Preparation
- Chill the serving glass. Add the measured ingredients to a shaker.
- Add plenty of solid ice cubes and shake vigorously for about 10–15 seconds.
- Strain through a strainer into the chilled glass; the shaking ice stays in the shaker.
- Garnish to finish: lemon zest.
What does it taste like?
Lime takes the lead. Its acidity gives the Cosmopolitan the fresh edge it needs. The Cointreau adds sweetness and a hint of orange underneath, while the cranberry juice cocktail brings color and a tart berry fruit. Vodka itself has barely any distinct flavor; its lemon note simply reinforces the freshness. Together, this creates a drink that starts sour and finishes medium-sweet. 30 ml of cranberry juice cocktail and 15 ml of lime juice meet 40 ml of lemon vodka and 15 ml of Cointreau. That doesn't make it harmless, even though it goes down fast when cold and without ice.
